Youth
The Wells Project
"Bubbling Springs"
The Wells project is a diocesan initiative to generate parish youth ministries that reach and
engage with young people in their parishes so that they grow to be followers of Christ and play
an active part in His Church.
The project has been initiated in recognition of the fact that there is a need for renewal in the
spiritual life of our young people and that they have an important part to play in the life of
the church.
The inspiration for the name of the project came from the book of Isaiah 35:7
"The burning sand will become a pool of water.
The thirsty ground will become bubbling springs."
The project seeks to identify willing leaders in parishes who will then receive training and
support towards establishing a new youth ministry "Well" in their parish. The project
commenced in March 2011 and already a number of parishes have established new Wells.
Some have also grouped together to maximise their leadership potential and to gather a
larger group of young people.
These new Wells are already drawing our young people together to connect with them. They
can then be presented with the gospel of Christ and equipped as His disciples to go on and
play a full part in His church.
If you would like to learn more about how you or your parish could become part of the
Wells project please contact the Diocesan Youth Officer Jonny Phenix to arrange a meeting to
discuss how best to get started.
