Safeguarding & GDPR

Safeguarding Arrangements effective from January 2026

1. Vetting – this will be supervised by the Diocesan Office – please contact Sabrina at admin@clogher.org or Joyce at secretary@clogher.org. They will provide information on the Access NI Application Pack (NI) / Vetting Invitation Form NVB1 (RoI) and forward the completed relevant pages to the RCB Vetting Team. This vetting will be for Clergy, Diocesan Readers, DPAs, NSMs and OLMs.

2. Training and Compliance – Mrs Catherine Irwin has agreed to take on the role of Diocesan Safeguarding Support Team Leader. Catherine will support the Diocese in meeting its responsibilities to be compliant with policy, training and practice within the Safeguarding Standards as outlined by the Church of Ireland Safeguarding Board.

Under her leadership, the Diocesan Support Team will continue to provide training for volunteers and parish panel members. Catherine will coordinate parish audits, oversee annual online Safeguarding returns completed by Select Vestries, provide information and support to Diocesan Panels, Diocesan clergy, Diocesan staff and Diocesan/Parish volunteers on Safeguarding policy and/or procedural issues and act as the primary point of contact for Parish Panels regarding implementation of the Safeguarding Policy.

Catherine can be contacted by email at clogherdst@gmail.com

3. Safeguarding allegations or disclosures – Mr Derek Scott will be your point of contact if you have any child or adult safeguarding disclosures or allegations that relate to the Diocese. Derek will support the Diocesan Safeguarding Panel in managing cases within a suitable timeframe and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all safeguarding disclosures or allegations for the Diocese. He will ensure that any criminal activity is reported to PSNI/AGS and collaborate with other statutory agencies to share information as required, while respecting confidentiality.

Derek can be contacted by email at cloghersafeguarding@gmail.com

Catherine, Derek, Sabrina and Joyce meet regularly to review Diocesan Safeguarding procedures and practices and address any emerging issues.
