Dean dedicates memorial to victims of Enniskillen Remembrance Day bomb
The dedication ceremony of the new memorial in Enniskillen.
The Dean of Clogher, the Very Revd Kenneth Hall has dedicated a memorial to the 12 victims of the Enniskillen Remembrance Day bomb and the scores of those injured on the 30th anniversary on 8th November.
The Dean, who took part in the unveiling and dedication ceremony with church colleagues from Enniskillen Presbyterian Church and Enniskillen Methodist Church, dedicated the memorial in front of representatives of the families who had loved ones killed and injured in the atrocity.
The unveiling was performed by Her Majesty’s Representative in Fermanagh, Viscount Brookeborough, who read a special message from The Queen who said the memorial was a poignant reminder of a terrible event.
Invited guests included the Secretary of State, James Brokenshire; DUP Leader, Arlene Foster and the Chief Constable, George Hamilton.
From early morning, people gathered around the War Memorial in Belmore Street, Enniskillen to watch the ceremony.
Ballyreagh Silver Band which took part in the Remembrance Day 30 years ago provided the music for hymn-singing and there was a recitation of a special poem and a solo by a great-granddaughter of one of the couples killed in the bomb.
