On Friday 2nd September the Revd John Woods was instituted by the Rt Revd John McDowell, Bishop of Clogher, as Rector of the Grouped Parishes of Donacavey and Barr.
The service took place at 7.30pm in Donacavey Parish Church, Fintona. The processional hymn was 'The Golden gates are lifted up'; the first reading from Isaiah 6: 1-8 was read by Mr Alan Nesbitt; Psalm 121 was was led by the Revd Canon Mark Watson, Rural Dean; the second reading from 1st Timothy 4: 9-16 was read by Miss Linda Surphlis. The hymn 'Holy, holy, holy' was sang followed by the Gospel reading from St John 4: 7-14 read by the Revd Stephanie Woods. The sermon was preached by the Revd Canon Dr Maurice Elliott, Director of the Theological Institute. The Institution took place and the hymn 'And can it be that I should gain' was sang before the Commission. At the door Mr Nigel Booth read; at the font Mr George Woods read; at the prayer desk Mrs Jill Surphlis read; in the pulpit Mrs Marian McConnell read; and at the Lord's Table Mrs Geraldine Beattie read. After the Peace the hymn 'Love Divine, all loves excelling' was sang followed by the Prayers of the People. The offertory hymn was 'Brother, sister, let me serve you' and the closing processional hymn was 'Be thou my vision. O Lord of my heart'.
Everyone was invited for refreshment in Donacavey Parish Hall after the service.
