Celebration Cake

As the weather was very favourable, the Bishop and Mrs McDowell were, this year, able to entertain the Indoor Members of Mothers Union in their garden. It was extra special this year as we were also celebrating the 90th birthday of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. The garden and tables were appropriately decorated for the occasion and a special celebration cake was cut by the oldest member attending, Mrs Madge Wilson of Garvary Branch.

A lovely afternoon tea was served by Mrs McDowell assisted by members of the MU. To close the afternoon there was the sound of favourite hymns wafting on the breeze, accompanied on the piano by Dr Margart Knox.

The Bishop and Mrs McDowell presented with a rose bush

The Bishop and Mrs McDowell were presented with a rose bush, by Mrs Jane Brien, Magheracross Branch, in appreciation for opening their home and garden to the members.

Mrs Irene Boyd, Diocesan President, proposed the vote of thanks and gave the members a short summary of the programme MU hopes to pursue in the coming year. Mrs Geraldine Beattie, Indoor Members Representative, also attended the party.
