On Sunday 13th September the Revd Olivia Downey was ordained a Priest by the Bishop, the Rt Revd John McDowell in St Macartin's Cathedral, Enniskillen.
The large attendance at her Ordination Service reflected the high esteem in which she is held. She will serve her curacy under the Very Revd Kenneth Hall, Dean of Clogher, with half of her duties being shared with the Clogher Cathedral Group with the Precentor, the Revd Canon Noel Regan.
The Precentor sang the Vestry Prayer as the Choir, Churchwardens and Clergy took their place in procession followed by the hymn 'Guide me, O thou great Jehovah'. The Revd Olivia was then presented by sponsors to the Bishop. The first reading was read by Mrs Georgina Wallace from Isaiah chapter 61 vs 1 − 3, after which Psalm 145 vs 1-8, 22 was sung. The second reading was read by the Revd Rob Clements from 2 Corinthians chapter 5 vs 14 − 19. The hymn 'In Christ Alone my hope is found' was sang followed by the Gospel reading read by the Very Revd Kenneth Hall from John chapter 20 vs 19 − 23. Bishop John McDowell preached the sermon, followed by the Rite of Ordination and Declarations. The Precentor led the prayers for the Revd Olivia and for the ministry of the whole Church and sings 'Come Holy Ghost, our souls inspire'. The Ordination Prayer with the laying on of hands then took place with the Bishop presenting the Revd Olivia with a bible. The Offertory hymn was 'To God be the glory, Great things he hath done!', after which Holy Communion was celebrated. After the Dismissal the recessional hymn 'Go at the call of God' was sang and everyone was invited afterwards for refreshments in the Cathedral Hall.
