The Bishop of Clogher, the Rt Revd John McDowell, has appointed the Revd Dr Ian Ellis, rector of Rossorry Parish in the Diocese of Clogher, as the Prebendary of Donaghmore in the National Cathedral of St. Patrick, Dublin.
Canon Ellis was ordained in 1989. Following his curacy in St. Mark's Armagh and first incumbency in the parishes of Loughgall and Grange, Ian served as the Secretary to the the General Synod Board of Education (NI). He currently serves as rector of Rossorry parish.
Announcing the appointment the Bishop of Clogher said: 'Canon Ellis will be well known to many in the Church of Ireland, particularly through his work in the field of Education. I know that he will make a thoughtful and positive contribution to the life of the National Cathedral of St. Patrick and will represent the Diocese of Clogher with commitment and energy.'
Canon Ellis commented 'I feel greatly honoured to be appointed by the Bishop of Clogher as the diocesan Representative Canon in St Patrick's Dublin. It is a great privilege to represent Clogher diocese and to have the opportunity to take part in the worship of our national cathedral. I look forward to working with the Dean and Chapter in this new role.'
