Mothers' Union Diocesan Service

 


The Mothers' Union Diocesan Service was held in St Patrick's Church, Monaghan on Friday 1st May.

The Diocesan Banner was carried by Barbara Clarke, Young Families Representative and the Monaghan Branch Banner by Mrs Hilary Workman, 30 other banners were carried by branch members. There was a large congregation of 230 members and friends.

The lessons were read by the Branch Leader, Mrs Muriel Treacy and the President, Dr Margaret Knox. The organist was Mrs Ruby Heasty. The rector, the Revd Canon Ian Berry, conducted the service and the Rt Revd John McDowell, Bishop of Clogher, preached the sermon.

During the service Mrs Valerie McMorris, was commissioned by the Bishop as Co-ordinator of the Faith and Policy Unit.

Following the service the congregation was entertained to a delicious supper by the members of the Monaghan Branch. In the absence of the President, the vote of thanks was given by Mrs Valerie Stewart, Vice-President of the Faith and Policy Unit.
