Monea Guides Coffee Morning

On 7th March, Monea Guides hosted a Coffee Morning in the Reade Hall. There was overwhelming support from the local community and over £650 was raised which will be used to support 3 senior members who are travelling abroad this coming summer to participate in various events and activities, as well as 2 guides (Lauren Ferguson and Eve Pedersen) who will be doing their Baden Powell Challenge which will complete their BP award, the highest award a guide can attain.

Two girls, Rebecca Irwin and Leah Pedersen, are travelling to 'Our Cabana' in Mexico where they will work with girl guides and girls scouts from all over the world, in a service project working with local disadvantaged children, many of whom are severely handicapped. Sarah-Kate Brown will travel to Denmark where she will attend an international camp and take part in many outdoor activities with various global guiding and scouting groups.

In order to complete a peace project that the guides started at the Ulster International Camp, Xplore14, in summer 2014, we had to do something for our community. The unit decided to make bookmarks for the use of the choir in Devenish Parish, and these were presented during the coffee morning.

The leaders and girls from the unit are extremely grateful for all the support received from the parish and the wider community.
