Bishop of Clogher announces new Archdeacon

A new Archdeacon of Clogher has been announced.
Canon William Jeffrey, Rector of Lisbellaw with Coolbuck, is to succeed Archdeacon Paul Thompson who retires at the end of September.
The announcement was made by the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr Ian Ellis, at the Clogher Diocesan Synod, held in the Cathedral Hall, Enniskillen on Thursday night, attended by representatives from parishes across the diocese.
Bishop Ellis, making the announcement, described Canon William as “a very effective rector and Rural Dean and has many personal gifts along with long experience of work in the Civil Service.
“I welcome him to his new role which he takes up as Archdeacon Paul leaves us, and I trust you will all support him in this new aspect of his ministry.”
Canon William Jeffrey, reacting to the news, said; “I’m extremely humbled to be asked by the Bishop to be the next Archdeacon of Clogher. I’m very conscious of the quality of service given by Archdeacon Paul and the man I’m following.”
