Walk from Enniskillen to Dublin begins
Revd Stephen McWhirter on his walk from Bellanaleck to Dublin via Five Points and Kinawley on Monday
The 'Soles for Souls' walk to Dublin by Revd Stephen McWhirter began on Sunday following his Sunday morning service in Rossorry Parish Church.
The first leg of the two-week pilgrimage barefoot to St. Patrick's Cathedral, was to Bellanaleck, where Revd Stephen's wife, Canon Jen McWhirter is Rector of Cleenish Parish Church. Parishioners from Cleenish Parish welcomed him as he spent his first night in the church.
Today, Monday, Revd Stephen set out for his next destination, Derrylin, where he will be expecting to cover more than eight miles. He continues his walk along country roads to Belturbet, Cavan, Virginia, Kells, Navan and Dublin.
The walk is raising funds for Rossorry Church's new community hub as well as the Aisling Centre, Enniskillen by donations which can be made each day en route or through the GoFundMe Rossorry Church page.
