Attending the Friends of Clogher Cathedral Service.
The annual Friends Service and Re-dedication of the organ at St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Clogher, took place on Sunday afternoon, 17 November.
The service was conducted by the Rector, Revd Olivia Downey with the guest preacher, the Very Revd Stephen Forde, Dean of St. Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast. The Cathedral organ was Re-dedicated by the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr. Ian Ellis.
The Fivemiletown College Scripture Union Choir.
The organist was Mrs Diane Simpson.
The hymns were; “Praise to the Lord,” “Be still, for the presence of the Lord,” “Through all the changing scenes of life,” “In Christ alone my hope is found,” “Jesus is Lord.”
The Fivemiletown College Scripture Union Choir, in their first public outing, sang several pieces.

The Churchwardens, Ivan Domer (People’s Churchwarden) and Nigel Robinson (Rector’s Churchwarden) requested the Bishop to re-dedicate the organ, thanking all those who have and are still playing the organ and all those who helped to prepare the work and have it completed.
Following this, organist Mrs Diane Simpson played an organ voluntary.
The readings were by Mrs Beryl Boyd, representing the Friends of St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Clogher and Dean Kenneth Hall.
The sermon was preached by the Very Revd Stephen Forde who outlined some of the history of worship on the site of Clogher Cathedral at Rathmore and recalled the founder of the church there, Macartan who was St. Patrick’s mainstay.
Now the ‘Friends of Clogher Cathedral’ play a part in communicating the blessings of the past to the benefit of the future.
Following the service, the congregation were served refreshments in the Royal British Legion Hall after which the annual meeting of the Friends took place.
