New Rector appointed to Dromore Parish

A new appointment has been made to Dromore Parish, Clogher Diocese.

Following a meeting of the Board of Nomination for Dromore Parish during the past week, the Revd William (Bill) Boyce, Vicar of St Andrew’s Church, Puerto Pollensa, Majorca in the Diocese of Europe has been appointed as the next rector of Holy Trinity Church, Dromore.

Revd Boyce, a native of the Diocese of Derry and Raphoe, previously served in the Church of Ireland in the dioceses of Connor, Down and Dromore.

The Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr. Ian Ellis, welcoming him to Clogher Diocese said; “I am delighted with the appointment of Revd William (Bill) Boyce to the parish of Dromore and wish him and his wife Eleanor every blessing on this new chapter of ministry as they move from Mallorca back to Northern Ireland.

“Revd Bill brings experience from his Chaplaincy in Puerto Pollensa and also from his former ministry in the Church of Ireland in both Connor and Down and Dromore Dioceses. I feel sure that his skills of excellent communication and pastoral care will soon be recognised and appreciated by his new parishioners.”

Revd Boyce, said; “We are both delighted and excited to be moving to Holy Trinity, Dromore and looking forward to what God will do as we seek his will for our new parish.”

Revd Boyce, who grew up in Killowen Parish Church in Coleraine but attended St Patrick’s, Coleraine in Connor Diocese as an adult, has a Bachelor of Theology from Trinity College Dublin and worked for 18 years as a Civil Engineer for Northern Ireland Roads Service before his ordination.

He served as Curate Assistant in Willowfield Parish from June 2003 to October 2004 and also at Bangor Abbey from October 2004 until September 2007.

He was appointed Rector of St. Brigid’s Parish, Mallusk in September 2007, a position he held until June 2021.

Since then, Revd Boyce has been serving as Chaplain of St. Andrew’s Church, Puerto Pollensa in Mallorca with the Church of England’s Diocese of Europe until the present time.

During his wide-ranging ministry in the church, Revd Boyce has visited Nepal three times with CMS Ireland as part of a Mission Team, most recently as a speaker and organiser of a Leadership training Conference for Nepali Christian Leaders.

Revd Boyce encourages lay involvement in church services, having experienced this in his home parish.
Revd Boyce says he has a keen awareness and deep appreciation of Anglican worship and while serving in Majorca, he has participated in the annual Ecumenical Service in Palma Cathedral as well as the Interdenominational Service.

His hobbies include cycling, having twice completed in the Mallorca 312 race and also enjoys reading, classic rock music and keeping fit at the gym.
