Christmas at Galloon

One of the major Christmas events in Clogher Diocese this year is the Galloon Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival at Newtownbutler.

This takes place over the weekend of 8-10th December.

Beginning on Friday, 8 December at 7pm, the viewing of the trees will be accompanied by singing by members of the Silvertones Choir.

On Saturday, a full day’s viewing from 10am until 5pm will have musical accompaniment from local musicians with refreshments being served.

On Sunday, 10 December the Festival will end with a Carol Service at 7pm with Lisnaskea Silver Band.

The parish, led by Rector, Revd Lorraine Capper has involved parish organisations, local schools and community groups as well as local businesses in connection with decorating a tree for the Festival.

One of the members of the organising committee, Grace Rickey, said they were aiming for around 30 trees of various sizes located throughout Galloon Church. These could be the traditional five or six feet high trees or could be desk top versions such as a small tree made from buttons by members of the Rickey family.
