Tragic death of former student of Monaghan Collegiate

Following the tragic death of a young man in a road accident in Co. Monaghan on Wednesday, The Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr Ian Ellis, Chair of Monaghan Collegiate Board of Governors stated; 'The death of former Monaghan Collegiate College pupil, Jake Brennan is dreadful news and will be an overwhelming loss to his family. The shock will be profoundly felt by the Collegiate school community and particularly among his school friends and all in the Co. Monaghan area.

'The loss of another young life on our roads adds to the litany of similar deaths over recent months and makes this all the more difficult to bear. On behalf of the governors I should like to express my sincere appreciation to the principal and staff for their very professional response to this incident and thank them for their ongoing pastoral care and support of the pupils and the wider school community.

'My prayers and I know the prayers of all in the Monaghan community and beyond will be with Jake's family, the school leaders and pupils.
