Installation of Canons takes place in Enniskillen Cathedral

 


Gathering for the Installation Service.

A Service of Installation of Canons to the Chapter of the Cathedral Churches of Clogher and Enniskillen in Clogher Diocese took place in St. Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen on Wednesday, 31 May 2023, the Feast Day of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Installation of Revd Canon Alan Irwin as Prebendary of Kilskeery; the Revd Canon John McClenaghan as Prebendary of Tyholland and the Revd Canon John Woods as Prebendary of Donacavey also included the invitation to Revd Canon Paul Thompson, Prebendary of Donaghmore as Diocesan Representative Canon to the National Cathedral of St. Patrick, Dublin, to take a stall among the Chapter of Clogher.

The service was conducted by Dean Kenneth Hall assisted by the Bishop of Clogher, the Right Revd Dr. Ian Ellis. The preacher was the Venerable Peter Thompson, Archdeacon of Armagh.

The hymns were; “Let God’s people join in worship,” “Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord,” “Sing we of the blessed mother,” and “Be thou my vision.” The organist was Mr. Glenn Moore.

The service ended with the Sacrament of Holy Communion and following the service, the congregation was invited to the Cathedral Hall for refreshments.

Revd Canon Alan Irwin is Rector of Colaghty Parish, Lack and is also Rural Dean of Kesh.

Revd Canon John McClenaghan is Rector of the Aghalurcher Group of Parishes based at Colebrooke and is also Diocesan Registrar and co-ordinator of the Diocesan Ministry of Healing Committee.

Revd Canon John Woods is Rector of Donacavey and Barr parishes, Fintona, and is also Rural Dean of Kilskeery.

Revd Canon Paul Thompson is Rector of Derryvullen North, Irvinestown and Castle Archdale Parishes and is also the Clogher Diocese Warden of Readers and Co-ordinator of Lay Ministry.
