The institution of Revd Stephen McWhirter took place in Rossorry Parish Church on Thursday, 3rd November.

At the service, Revd Stephen announced he would be staying in the church from 7am on Saturday, 5th November until his first service on Sunday, 6th November at 10am.

Behind a desk at the front of the church, Revd Stephen surrounded himself with Bibles and prayer books and other ecclesiastical texts and during the day was visited by parishioners and some clergy from the diocese.

He also had regular visits from his wife, Revd Canon Jen McWhirter and their daughter Kizzy.

As night approached, Revd McWhirter had a sleeping bag on hand to keep himself warm.

Revd Stephen said he was keen to meet members of his new congregation and would continue this during a Service of Holy Communion on Sunday morning and during refreshments in the parish hall after the service.
