There is a saying that, "if you don't ask you're unlikely to get". In this case it seems true. When we asked Youthlink to partner with Clogher Youth Council and the Wells project to provide a one day youth ministry conference locally we were pleasantly surprised to get a definite "yes". Last Saturday, the 6th of October saw nearly 100 youth leaders gathered at Enniskillen College for a day of workshops and an opportunity to meet and network together. Delegates represented parishes and churches from throughout the diocese and beyond.
The day began with registration and coffee followed by worship led by the "Elation" band from Dublin who provided a rich mixture of instruments and vocals to inspire us to praise. The first workshops then followed in five key areas; Youth Ministry Resources, Drama, Games, Arts and Crafts and Worship. At the lunch break there was time to chat perusing the resources for sale and exchange ideas and inspiration gleaned at the first workshop sessions. It was also very interesting to visit the prayer labyrinth at the arts and crafts section and to see the many creative ideas for prayer.
The afternoon provided the choice of a second workshop and then we gathered for a final time of worship together. It was very good to have our bishop John McDowell with us and to have him address the delegates encouraging them in their service and dedication to youth ministry.
'INVEST' delegates
We are indebted to Youthlink for their generous support and resources that made the day such a success. Those who attended spoke very positively of the benefits of such a conference and it was especially encouraging to see how many of the new Wells Project youth ministries attended the day.
