In-church worship to resume from 10 May in Republic of Ireland

 

The easing of lockdown restrictions have been announced by the Government in the Republic of Ireland.

New guidance has been issued that from 10 Mayin-person religious services can recommence
.
However it is advised that other religious ceremonies such as Communions and Confirmations should not take place at this time.

Funerals: 50 mourners permitted at service. Related events, either before or after, should not take place.

Weddings:50 guests permitted at service (civil or religious). For celebrations/receptions, a maximum of six people for indoor gatherings and 15 people for outdoor gatherings.

Northern Ireland

Churches in Northern Ireland were allowed to re-open for worship from early April.

The number permitted to attend weddings and civil partnerships is to be informed by a risk assessment for the venue.

Face coverings must be worn by all unless exempt, other than those in the marriage party.

Receptions or post ceremony gatherings are not permitted.

Funeral services are not permitted at private dwellings.

The number permitted to attend funerals in places of worship, funeral homes, crematoriums or at a burial ground is to be informed by a risk assessment for the venue.
