Lenten Discussions in Ematris Group
The Lenten Discussion Group took place beginning on Ask Wednesday with a service of Holy Communion in Rockcorry Parish Church. They then moved to Aghabog Church Hall for the rest of the Wednesdays in lent to discuss the Ten Commandments, two commandments each evening. The Revd George Beattie and Mr Keith Brown, Diocesan Reader, had preached on the Ten Commandments from January. Mr Beattie had arranged with some of his colleagues to come and lead each of the discussion’s and he says "we are greatly indebted to the Revd Canon Helene Steed, Mr Keith Brown, the Revd W. Buchanan, the Revd Canon Ian Berry and the Revd Canon David Skuce who give up their evening to come along and give us the benefit of how they see how we should live out the commandments." There was a good attendance of approximately twenty people each evening that ended with supper. At times the discussion was so lively that in continued during supper with Mr Beattie asking "had people no homes to go to" at around 10.30pm. The series finished the Lenten season with Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday which was again well attended.
