Choral Evensong in Enniskillen
A special diocesan service of Choral Evensong, with the musical setting of the Preces and Responses by Thomas Tallis, was held in the Cathedral Church of St Macartin, Enniskillen on the Second Sunday before Lent, Sunday 12th February 2012. The Processional Hymn was The God of Abraham praise, and the service was introduced by the Dean and Rector, the Very Revd Kenneth Hall. The cantor was the Precentor, the Revd Canon Noel Regan, the organist was Mrs Gillian Spence, and the singing was led by the combined choirs of St Macartin's Cathedral Enniskillen and The Priory Church, Killadeas.
&Psalm 116 I love the Lord, for he has heard the voice of my supplication was sung, the Old Testament reading read by the Archdeacon, the Venerable Cecil Pringle, was from Jeremiah chapter 31 verses 31-34. The canticles included Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, and the New Testament lesson was from 1 John chapter 4 verses 7–12 and was read by the Diocesan Secretary, Mr Glenn Moore.
The choir performed an arrangement of the Lord’s Prayer, and the anthem was Look at the World by John Rutter. The sermon was preached by the Revd Canon Helene Steed, Prebendary of Devenish and Rector of the Clones Group of Parishes. The prayers were led by the Revd Alister Warke, Diocesan Curate serving in Enniskillen and Clogher Cathedrals. Other hymns included God is love let heaven adore him and For the beauty of the earth. The Blessing was sung by the Bishop and the final hymns were Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness and Love divine, all loves excelling.
