Nigeria visit started
Bishop Visiting Nigeria

The Bishop of Clogher, the Rt Revd Dr Michael Jackson, has embarked on a two week visit to Nigeria, where he will be the guest of the Diocese of Kaduna.

The bishop travelled to Nigeria during the night, and commenced engagements this morning, by addressing diocesan clergy on the theme of relationships and communion. The theme was a bible study of St Luke chapter 17, something which the bishop had shared with his own clergy in Clogher Diocese earlier in November. Dutiful service, holiness and restoration to membership of society and returning to the source of healing with gratitude formed the core. The bishop took a wide range of questions on many aspects of the life of the contemporary Anglican Communion. Tomorrow, he will meet with the co-ordinating committee for his visit to work through the aspirations and expectations of the many meetings with churches, diocese and individuals. The bishop also had a long meeting today with a visiting bishop from Zaphira State, where Sharia law holds, and discovered more about Christian witness in an interfaith context.

Having come from a meeting of the Irish bishops, Bishop Jackson brought warm fraternal greetings from them to the people, clergy and bishop of Kaduna.

During his time in Nigeria he will visit a number of projects, including the Jacaranda Farm project which has been supported significantly by the Diocese of Clogher. He will also address a number of clergy gatherings, and preach at an Advent Rally.
