Musical Evening in St. Salvator’s Parish Church Glaslough
Glaslough Parish Church in County Monaghan held a musical evening on Sunday
30th May 2010 at 7.30pm with Bawn Silver Band and Donagh Parish Choir.
The musical evening was a tremendous success and very enjoyable. The Revd
Margaret Pringle led the service, and said “we were delighted to have
the members of the Bawn silver band with their musical director Alan Graham
and band leader Trevor Lochart.”
The band provided the music for the congregational singing and also played
a number of well known tunes. The members of Donagh Parish Choir, conducted
by Ethne Mc Cord, sang a number of pieces which included When piece like
a river and The old rugged cross. The choir brought the service to a conclusion
by suitably singing the Benediction.
The Scripture readings were read by William Singleton from Errigal Truagh
Parish and Jean Wallace from of Donagh Parish. The collectors were David
Waller, Clayton Coulter, William Singleton and Jean Wallace. The service
was followed by supper, which was served in the nearby parish hall.
As well as being an enjoyable evening it was very successful financially
with the collection amounting to €1,450, which will go towards the repair
of Donagh church roof.
The Reverend Margaret Pringle expressed her thanks to everyone for supporting
the evening and for being so generous. She also thanked those who had any
input into the service and also to those who provided the refreshments.
