‘My Parish Church – Past, Present and Future’
Clogher Diocesan Board of Religious Education (CDBRE) organises two competitions
each year for children and young people in the diocese – the Bishop’s
Medal and Archdeacon Ruddell Prize. Prize winners are traditionally announced
at Diocesan Synod. Please try to encourage entries from your parish/children/young
people. Details of this year’s competitions are as follows:
Bishop’s Medal
‘My Parish Church – Past, Present and Future’
Produce a PowerPoint presentation of a maximum of 50 slides of text and images
(audio optional) to include the following:
1. Origin of my Parish Church
2. A Brief History to date of my Parish Church
3. People/Office-Bearers in my Church e.g. Select Vestry members, Church wardens,
rector, organist, choir, caretaker.
4. Organisations in my Church
5. Our Church Events in the Past Year
6. The Role of my Church in the Community
7. My Church in the Future – provide or compile a vision statement for
your church. Also include details on what you would like your church to achieve
in the next 10 years and your role in that.
This competition is open to all young people of secondary school age and above.
All entries must be by one individual and should be your own work - do not
copy information from books, websites etc. You can include text, pictures,
photographs, diagrams etc. Entries to be submitted on CD please.
Archdeacon Ruddell Prize
‘My Parish Church – Past, Present and Future’
Produce a project of between 10 and 15 A4 pages, either hand written or word
processed to include the following:
1. People in my Church
2. Organisations in my Church
3. Recent events in my Church
4. What my Church does in the Community
5. My role in my Church
6. What being a member of my church means to me
This competition is open to all children of primary school age and entries
can be either individual or group (e.g. a Sunday school class). You can include
text, pictures, photographs, diagrams etc but it must all be your own work.
Do not copy information from books, websites etc.
