New publication launched at Clogher Friends’ Service
On Sunday 17th May 2009 the annual Friends’ Service in St Macartan’s
Cathedral, Clogher took place, with the Rt Revd Dr Michael Jackson, Bishop
of Clogher, as preacher. The service was led by the Very Revd Raymond Thompson,
Dean of Clogher, in what will be his last Friends’ Service before his
retirement in August as Dean of Clogher and Rector of the Clogher Cathedral
Group of Parishes. During the service, the Bishop launched the 2009 Guide
to St Macartan’s Cathedral, Clogher, which was commissioned by the
Friends’ of Clogher Cathedral, researched and compiled by local historian,
Mr Jack Johnston. The publication is a revised version of previous guides
to the Cathedral which were first published in 1960, and later revised in
1970, 1989, and now 2009. The colourful publication provides much background
to the Cathedral, and a narrative to accompany a step by step tour of the
Cathedral.
