New Rector appointed to Magheracross Parish (Ballinamallard)

The Revd Lorraine Capper, Rector of Galloon (Newtownbutler), Sallaghy and Drummully Parishes in Clogher Diocese, has been appointed incumbent of Magheracross Parish, Ballinamallard.

Revd Lorraine’s appointment was made following a meeting of the Board of Nomination.

Bishop Ian Ellis, welcoming the appointment said; “I am delighted with the appointment of Revd Lorraine Capper as Rector of the parish of Magheracross.  She brings a wide range of experience and talents to this new position, foremost of which are her enthusiastic personality, administrative ability and commitment to pastoral ministry.

“I know she will be much missed in her former parishes of Galloon, Sallaghy and Drummully where she also served as Rural Dean of Clones.  I look forward to continuing to work alongside Revd Lorraine in her new parish where her many gifts will soon be recognised and appreciated by parishioners.

Revd Lorraine commented; “It has been a great privilege to serve the people of Galloon, Sallaghy and Drummully in times of joy and sorrow.”

She said as she looks to the future in a new chapter in her ordained ministry she does so led by God.

“I believe it is God who has called me to Ballinamallard,” she said, looking forward to continuing her pastoral ministry to the people of Magheracross Parish.

Revd Lorraine, who is married to the Revd Alan Capper, Rector of Lisnaskea Parish, was ordained 14 years ago and since then has served as Curate at St. Columba’s Parish Church, Omagh. Before taking up her incumbency at Galloon, Sallaghy and Drummully, she provided pastoral cover and led services in vacant parishes throughout Clogher Diocese and served as a part-time stipendiary minister in the Donagh Group of Parishes in Co. Monaghan.

Prior to her training for Church of Ireland Ministry, Mrs Capper was involved in teaching, managing an occupational health company and working as a librarian at Enniskillen Collegiate Grammar School.

Originally from Dollingstown, outside Lurgan, she grew up worshipping at the Church of Holy and Undivided Trinity, Magheralin Parish.

Among her hobbies are singing, cookery and reading.

A date for her institution will be announced at a later date.
