He has three girls; 12-year-old twins Madison and Siena and Ava, 6 years, from a previous marriage. Revd McConaghie has another important date on 29th May when he gets married to Janice Boyland. Janice's great uncle, Henry Boyland was Rector of Carrickmacross in the 90's.

Prior to his ordination, Revd McConaghie worked for Craigavon Borough Council for many years, latterly at Oxford Island Nature Reserve where he was in charge of educational visits and events with event management being his background.

He was appointed Curate to Drumglass Parish, Dungannon in the Armagh Diocese in 2012 before moving to become Curate in Dunboyne and Rathmolyon Group of Parishes in Meath and Kildare Diocese in 2014.
He said; 'My passion in ministry would include prayer, building of relationships in church and community, children's and youth ministry, social outreach and pastoral.

'My interests outside of church revolve around spending time with Janice and my three girls as well as our dog Alfie. I am also mad about sport being a season ticket holder for Ulster Rugby and avidly following Glenavon FC in the Irish League. I also enjoy running (when injuries allow) having completed two marathons and a number of half marathons.'
