A state of chassis - Ordinary People in Extraordinary Circumstances in Dublin in 1916

 

The Church of Ireland's Historical Centenaries Working Group held a successful discussion event, considering the experiences of Dubliners at the time of the Easter Rising, in Christ Church Cathedral last night.

A large attended the event which was addressed by Dr Jason McElligott, Keeper of Marsh's Library, Dublin; Dr Fearghal McGarry, Queen's University Belfast; and chaired by historian and broadcaster Dr John Bowman. The Rt Revd John McDowell, Bishop of Clogher made his opening remarks as Chairman of the Historical Centenaries Working Group.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD, First Minister of Northern Ireland Arlene Foster MLA and the British Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Dominick Chilcott attended the event.
